The Wombat visits Chatsworth House

No visit to Derbyshire is complete without going to see Chatsworth House! Here's The Wombat getting in the way of a decent picture of it.

And here he is, trying to admire his own reflection in a piece of garden sculpture.

A spot of bird-watching

The Wombat visited the very famous Slimbridge nature reserve, and saw lots of birds; these rather pale flamingos were his favourites.

He wasn't quite so keen on the visting duck at his caravan site though... He wasn't sure whether she wanted to eat him or sit on him!

A visit to Tattershall Castle

The Wombat recently spent a week at Tattershall Castle in Lincolnshire - you can read all about his adventures with bell-ringing, beer, and Trusty the Hedgehog, on the Duly Moated blog.

A tired little Wombat

The Wombat had the opportunity the other day to hike to the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle in Northumberland, near the lovely fishing village of Craster - where they smoke the kippers.

Here he is, checking out the seaside walk to the castle.
How far do we have to go?

And here he is, halfway there, wondering how much further his legs can carry him.
Are we there yet?

He's not too sure about all those sheep between him and the castle, either.
What do the sheep think?

So in the end, he gave up and went down to the sea, to try fishing for prawns in some rock pools. He looks like he would have had more luck collecting seaweed instead...

A proud Wombat

The Pride parade took place in London on Saturday July 4th, and the Wombat went along to see the sights. He even took part - in a very small way - by wearing a rainbow bandana (although it was more like a cloak on him).

Here he is in Trafalgar Square, with Nelson's Column in the background.

And here's another shot of Trafalgar Square, in front of the National Gallery and the church of St Martin in the Fields.

The Wombat did a bit of flag-waving in support of the parade.

But mostly he just watched.

The Wombat has spent the time since his London visit up in the north of Scotland - tales of his trip will be coming soon!
