The Wombat at Castle Fraser

The Wombat arrived in Scotland just in time for the weekend, and was treated to a behind-the-scenes tour of Castle Fraser. He was able to pose for a few photos at the front and in the Courtyard, but particularly enjoyed his time in the shop. Does The Wombat carry a wallet?

The Wombat also discovered the Whisky selection. Fortunately the day was saved after a reminder that he was not old enough to purchase it.

He did however, have enough charm to make some new friends.
Wonder what his chat-up lines are like?

The Wombat also discovered that he had developed a taste for Scottish castles...

What does a Wombat wear under his kilt?

As a teaser for the forthcoming posts about The Wombat's visit to Scotland, here he is acclimatising...

A proud Wombat

The Pride parade took place in London on Saturday July 4th, and the Wombat went along to see the sights. He even took part - in a very small way - by wearing a rainbow bandana (although it was more like a cloak on him).

Here he is in Trafalgar Square, with Nelson's Column in the background.

And here's another shot of Trafalgar Square, in front of the National Gallery and the church of St Martin in the Fields.

The Wombat did a bit of flag-waving in support of the parade.

But mostly he just watched.

The Wombat has spent the time since his London visit up in the north of Scotland - tales of his trip will be coming soon!

The other travelling wombats

It's been recently pointed out to The Wombat that he isn't in fact the only travelling (or traveling) wombat in the world. He's not sure whether to be glad that he's got some fellows out there, or to be miffed that he isn't as unique as he'd thought... He did go and have a look at the others though, to see what they're up to. Apparently, not a lot... but here are some links anyway.

Drinking Guinness in Dublin

The Wombat's trip to Dublin started off in sober enough fashion, watching the ducks at St Stephen's Green - here he is, cooling off near a fountain (while being careful not to get his fur too wet).

However, a visit to the world-famous Guinness Storehouse led to some hard drinking, as the following photos show. In this one, he's innocently examining the original 9,000 year lease signed by Arthur Guinness, allowing him to build the Guinness brewery at St James's Gate.

But here's The Wombat about to tackle a pint of the black stuff...

And here he is, complete with a frothy moustache, and already eyeing up his second pint.

After consuming more Guinness than was good for him (never mind the slogans), The Wombat then managed to 'lose' himself. But His photographer searched high and low, and thankfully tracked down the errant marsupial before he could do any lasting damage to himself or anything else. Here's a photo of The Wombat in the middle of O'Connell Street, looking properly contrite after a good scolding.

The Wombat apparently suffered a bit of a hangover the next day. And he's no longer allowed to be quite so disapproving of those doped-up wallabies.
